AUARTS STUDENT ASSOCIATION PRESENTS EMBODIMENT

Online, February 28 – March 19
Exhibition Location Here

Students and alumni of the Hear/d art residency at Alberta University of the Arts Student Association explore themes of embodiment and agency, re-contextualizing their personal stories. Many people affected by mental illness often find themselves either associating themselves with labels, or having labels associated with them by others. Breaking ties to labels requires dismantling the systems that create them.

Through their art practice artists can develop their own personal vocabularies and codes for an empowering and fuller identity.

Showing the work of Levin I!o, Lily Pavle, Haley craw, Camryn Carnell, Janira Moncayo, Portia Scabar and Laura Olive, curated by Rocio Graham this exhibition hopes to raise awareness about mental health and the barriers that those affected by it confront each day. It is time to foster open conversation to promote effective coping strategies, self-care, resilience, and hope throughout our art community.
