RITUAL
Group exhibition

Exhibition dates: February 11 - 17
Opening reception: February 15, 6-9pm

A ritual is a sequence of activities involving gestures, words, and objects performed in a sequestered place and performed according to set sequence. Rituals may be prescribed by the traditions of a community, such as a religious community. Rituals are characterized, but not defined, by formalism, traditionalism, invariance, rule-governance, sacral symbolism and performance.

’RITUAL’ is a visual exploration seeking the different ideas that ritual has to different people: traditions, routine, meditation, witchcraft, and prayer.

Project Space at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is located on the lands of Treaty 7 territory. We acknowledge the past, present, and future generations of Stoney Nakoda, Blackfoot, and Tsuut’ina Nations who help us steward this land, as well as honour and celebrate this place.

‘RITUAL’ features work by Jessica Wittman, Nahanni McKay, and Abigaile Edwards.
