After their successful debut in EXPOSURE FESTIVAL 2025, SAIT’s Darkroom students under the tutelage of George Webber, are back with a new creative 2026 collaboration as part of their ongoing ‘Exposing the Darkroom’ exhibit.

These photographers/artists bring a formidable passion to their craft with a variety of skills, experience and talent. Their creative enthusiasm for the darkroom is evident in the quality of their work and the community that they continue to build and nurture. Participating artists are interested in traditional black & white analog photography and darkroom methods as well as alternative processes. Of note, many award winning Canadian fine art photographers and photojournalists have honed their craft in SAIT’s Darkroom.

The Darkroom and its members have signifi cantly shaped Calgary’s photographic history through their sustained presence and evolution.

Visitors to this year’s 2026 exhibit can expect to see evocative portraits, striking landscapes, inspiring architecture and photograms highlighting both classic techniques and innovative approaches, all working within the rich tradition of black & white analog photography.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that the Exposure Photography Festival is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Moh’kins’tsis”, which we now call the City of Calgary. This is the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. It is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We honour and acknowledge all Nations, who live, work and play in Moh’kins’tsis, help steward this land, and honour and celebrate this territory.
