ABOUT THIS WORK
“Both of these photos were taken on the banks of the Bow River, shot with my beloved waterproof camera on 35mm film. I love shooting on film for its chemical magic, integrating invisible energies into the final photo. These photos carry imprints of the place they were taken: the river water, the sun, dirt, grass, and rocks. In these images, my loved ones are portrayed in relationship with the land, picking rosehips for tea or swimming on a summer evening, both with a dream-like blurriness. I always aim for my work to have a distinct feminine aesthetic and a deep reverence for this land we share.” – Katie Wackett
