The Exposure Photography Festival is an annual showcase and celebration of photography across Alberta. Through the month of February, the Festival shares a wide range of narratives, subjects, practices, and explorations – drawing attention to our province as the site of an active, growing, creative community in the field of photography.
An exciting number of exhibitions and events will be presented throughout Calgary, the Bow Valley, Red Deer, Edmonton, and beyond! Find us in galleries, museums, public venues, local business, artist-run centres, and DIY spaces. Contemporary Calgary will host the Festival’s opening and closing events (February 6th and March 6th) as well as our flagship exhibitions: the International Open Call, Emerging Photographers Showcase, and a solo exhibition by Stasia Schmidt, 2024 Emerging Photographer of the Year.

Exposure’s audience is mostly active on Instagram. Where appropriate please tag @ExposurePhotoFestival in your Instagram-stories, image posts and post texts. Exposure will try to reshare all content that we are tagged in, however we are a very small team – so please send us a direct message to follow up as needed.

Your exhibition registration fee includes unlimited event listings! Let us know what you have planned and we’ll promote it across our communication channels. Exhibition openings? Artist talks? Photo walks? Open studio? Print swap? We can’t wait to see you out there!
WELCOME ZOOM
On December 13th, we hosted an informal “Welcome Zoom” to share general festival information and orient Exhibition Partners around next-steps for participation. We’ve summarized a few questions-and-answers to the right, and you can watch the recorded version below:

Yes! The registration link remains live on this page, despite the listed deadline. Registrations received after January 3rd will not be included on our Festival Map or in the printed guide, but we will make every effort to include your listing on the website and promote your exhibition across social media.

Yes! Events that are not associated with an exhibition can be registered here. A $50 fee will apply.

Yes! A simplified version of our festival map will be optimized for printing on standard letter paper, should you wish to distribute copies at your venue.
