VISTI KJAR - EXPOSURE EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE

I love the world around me and within my work as a photographer I find beauty in both the natural and the constructed landscape environment. It is from these two environments that I wanted to create this project series, Our Built Environment. I decided to take a different approach to my photography and how I viewed both the built and natural landscapes. I wanted to look at the interactions of these two landscapes from differing viewpoints and intertwine them into a single image. My series, Our Built Environment, utilizes traditional black and white film to capture multiple stacked images through a number of different cameras, from a number of different viewpoints. The images are all created in camera either as a single frame or multiple frames overlaying each other and then finished digitally.

BIOGRAPHY

Visti Kjar has spent his life outdoors exploring the world around him, as a Chief Scout, bicycle mechanic/guide, NAUI dive master, archaeologist, surveyor, and environmental advisor. Being mentored by his dad and fellow photographers, Visti is primarily self-taught. Having started out before the digital age, Visti still has a deep love for analogue photography. It is through his diverse background and experience that Visti has developed his own style in capturing and creating images of the environment that surrounds him. Today, Visti continues to explore the places and people of the world around him, to work on personal photo projects and to just enjoy his time in the environment. Always evolving, learning, and improving his artistic expression, Visti is constantly pushing himself in different ways to create his art and his vision.
