Exposure plays a pivotal role in arts programming in photography in the City of Calgary and throughout Alberta. The 2022 Festival hosted over 900,000 visitors at its exhibitions and events and each year the Festival introduces exciting new programming that extends our reach and visibility and draws attention to Calgary and Alberta as the site of an active, growing, creative community in the field of photography.
The Exposure Photography Festival and its year-round programming is inclusive and participatory, a collaboration amongst members of the photographic community and the public. Exposure’s mission is to provide accessible, inclusive and relatable programming to Alberta’s citizens, encourage professional development, and offer opportunities to Alberta-based photographers.
Exposure promotes the sharing of knowledge, critical thinking and discussion and raises the reputation of Alberta’s photographers and photographic work made in Calgary. Using our platform within the international photography scene, we provide opportunities for practitioners to develop their careers, connect and build networks among artists and professionals, and expose Calgarians and photography communities to a wide range of image making.
Through donations, Exposure is able to continue to deliver its annual festival and showcase the best of contemporary photography throughout Alberta. With your generous support, Exposure can provide year-round opportunities for local emerging photographers to develop their practices and share their work with audiences at home and internationally, supporting the practitioners of tomorrow.
