Women in STEAM: Photography Talk w/ Mónica Alcázar Duarte & Wendy McMurdo

For Exposure 2022, Hundred Heroines are highlighting the women photographers who have given exposure to the women scientists of the 20th Century and 21st Century, proving that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) has always been a field for women.

As part of this celebration, we welcome two leading women in photography to discuss how they document and utilise science and technology within their practices. The conversation will be hosted by Haley Drolet and will not only dissect the role of STEM within their work but focus on two projects in particular; Wendy McMurdo will be discussing her series documenting the team behind Dolly the Sheep, commissioned by the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in 2002, and Mónica Alcázar-Duarte will be discussing space travel, boundaries and the price of progress.
